Supernovae - The chemical factories of cosmos (part-1)?

Did you ever think that from where all elements in the periodic table originated? Coinage metals such as Bronze, Copper, etc.

Alkali Metals such as lithium, Sodium, Potassium etc. Halogens such as Chlorine, Fluorine, Bromine etc. All originated from supernovae. We will talk about origination of every element of periodic table in another blog.

End of a star is very interesting, supernovae along with releasing elements in the universe leave a very dead body of the star behind them. These "dead bodies" of star range from White Dwarf to Black Holes , from Pulsar to Zombie stars!

Let's know about these dead core of stars....

1. White Dwarfs :-

A white dwarf is what stars like the Sun become after they have exhausted their nuclear fuel. Near the end of its nuclear burning stage, this type of star expels most of its outer material, creating a planetary nebula. Only the hot core of the star remains. ... That means a white dwarf is 200,000 times as dense.

White dwarfs are small, white, dense core of star which should be 8x of size to that of our sun. These stars are of type called type 1-A .

When a type1-A explodes into a supernova

Its power of fusion (which acts as a fuel) loses its battle against star's own gravity . Gravity pushes all the material towards the core to such extend that it crushes all the material of the star into a earth sized Object called a White Dwarf.

A white dwarf has a whooping gravity nearly

2. Pulsars

A pulsar is a highly magnetized rotating compact star that emits beams of electromagnetic radiation out of its magnetic poles. This radiation can be observed only when a beam of emission is pointing toward Earth, and is responsible for the pulsed appearance of emission

Pulsars, these magnetic giants are actually dead remains of a star that should be 20 times that of our sun. These gaint dwarfs has a gravity that can vary from size to size . Their magnetic field can increase to that level that it can pull an iron atom from even hundreds of kilometers

3. Magnetars

A magnetar is a type of neutron star believed to have an extremely powerful magnetic field (∼109 to 1011 T, ∼1013 to 1015 G). The magnetic-field decay powers the emission of high-energy electromagnetic radiation, particularly X-rays and gamma rays.

Magnetars , as the name suggests , these are Magnetic Monsters with magnetism at its

extreme ends . They are formed when a star approximately 30× the size of

our sun explodes into a Supernova. They have such strong gravity that these stars

can even suck the "heme" compound (which is an iron compound ) from even thousands kilometer away . Magnetars are bigger version of Pulsars and extremely small version of Black Holes.

4. Black Holes

A black hole is a region of spacetime where gravity is so strong that nothing—no particles or even electromagnetic radiation such as light—can escape from it. The theory of general relativity predicts that a sufficiently compact mass can deform spacetime to form a black hole.

Magnetars are magnetic monters whereas Black Holes are Gravitational monsters .

These Monsters are formed when a star approximately 100x the size of our sun explodes into a supernova or un-nova. Black holes are actually a hole in the fabrics of space and time formed due to limitless distortion. The curvature caused by bending of space and time due

5. Zombie Stars

A zombie star is a hypothetical result of a Type Iax supernova which leaves behind a remnant star, rather than completely dispersing the stellar mass. Type Iax supernovae are similar to Type Ia, but have a lower ejection velocity and lower luminosity.

A zombie star is usually formed in a Binary Star system. When the difference between the size and growth rate of the two stars is extremely high then the smaller star starts stealing material from its bigger solar partner. Thus, the smaller star now grows in size and the bigger star grows smaller in size as it loses its material. The smaller star grows blue in color as it absorbs the outer carbon layer first from its bigger partner. The "greedy" Zombie star steals material from its partner till it blasts the material in space.
